TV as quietly or as
loud as you like. The
sound levels on this
infrared system can
be individually adjusted to the
user’s needs to suit different lis-
tening situations. In addition to its
excellent stereo sound quality and
speech intelligibility, the Set 900
system features ergonomically
optimized controls.
Turn the TV up as loud as you
like without disturbing the neigh-
bours: it’s no problem with the
Set900 system. e wireless stetho-
set receiver sends its amplied TV
or hi- sound directly into
your ears. Simply connect
the set’s transmitter to
the audio source and
the signal is transmit-
ted to the receiver
using infrared tech-
nology. Both the
volume and bal-
ance, between
the right and
left ears, can be
individually
adjusted on the receiver, accord-
ing to the listener’s hearing needs.
Speech intelligibility is particularly
important when watching tele-
vision. For this reason, the Set900
system can emphasize the treble to
adapt speech frequencies to the lis-
tener’s capabilities. Because every-
one’s ability to hear high frequen-
cies continuously decreases with
age, raising the intensity of these
frequencies increases the clarity of
speech, making it easier to under-
stand. In addition, a switchable
compression function evens out
unpleasant dierences in volume
between quiet and loud sounds.
e Set900 system is also par-
ticularly user-friendly: when the
earbows are slightly pulled apart,
the sound is switched on auto-
matically. When the receiver is
removed, and the earbows close,
it switches o automatically after
30seconds.
When you’re watching an excit-
ing movie or listening to music with
a standard headset, it’s easy to for-
get the world around you, because
the headset tends to dampen exter-
nal noises. To make sure you can
hear the phone or doorbell ringing,
two small switchable microphones
are built into the Set900 stethoset
receiver. ey pick up
surround-
ing noises
and amplify
them, allowing
the listeners to hear what’s
going on around them even when
while watching television or listen-
ing to music.
e Sennheiser listening system
is also a useful companion at the
theatre or concert hall. Nowadays,
more and more public buildings
and cultural venues are equipped
with professional audio systems
that use infrared technology to
transmit a performance or lec-
ture to receiv-
ers such as
those of the
Set 900. The
receiver works
on three fre-
quencies to
receive these signals—2.3MHz,
2.8 MHz and 95 kHz—which can
be selected according to the chan-
nel used in a specic venue.
