Sound quality/sound field operations

DOLBY PRO LOGIC

1 Press [Î PRO LOGIC].

2 Play a Dolby Surround source.

To cancel

Press [Î PRO LOGIC].

Note

Turn Dolby Pro Logic off when playing a DVD recorded with Dolby

Digital or DTS. The surround effects will not be reproduced correctly

if this is left on.

Speaker level adjustments

If the level of the speakers appears to be different while listening to a

source, adjust the level of the speakers to the same apparent level.

Preparation

DOLBY DIGITAL and DTS: Turn off the other sound field systems.

DOLBY PRO LOGIC: Press [Î PRO LOGIC].

1 Remove the discs (or select an empty tray).

2 Press [TEST] to output a test signal.

Lch: Front left (j16 dB to 0 dB)

Cch: Center (i6 dB to j10 dB)

Rch: Front right (j16 dB to 0 dB)

RSch: Right surround (i6 dB to j10 dB)

LSch: Left surround (i6 dB to j10 dB)

≥The surround channel for Dolby Pro Logic is monaural so the

indicator appears as “Sch” instead.

3 Press [3] (to increase) or [4] (to decrease).

To stop the test signal, press [TEST] again.

To adjust speaker level during play

1. Press [CH SELECT] to select the speaker.

Lch>Cch>Rch>RSch>LSch>SWch

SWch: Subwoofer (i10 dB to j10 dB)

Dolby Pro Logic

≥The surround channel is monaural so the indicator appears as

“Sch” instead.

≥“SWch” does not appear.

2. Press [3] (to increase) or [4] (to decrease).

Changing sound field and quality

Press [SFC] to select a setting.

Each time you press the button:

HEAVY:Adds punch to rock (factory preset).

CLEAR:Clarifies higher sounds.

SOFT: For background music.

DISCO:

Reverberates sound to make you feel like you were in a disco.

LIVE: Makes vocals more alive.

HALL: Expands sound to make you feel like you were in a hall.

FLAT: Canceled (no effect is added).

Remote control only

DOLBY DIGITAL and DTS

Play a DOLBY DIGITAL or DTS source.

“Î DIGITAL” or “DTS” lights.

To add power to the bass from the subwoofer ➡ page 26.

To down-mix Dolby Digital or DTS (5.1 ch) signals to

2 channels

(Front L/R)

Press [MIX 2ch] during play.

To cancel, press [MIX 2ch] again.

When “MIX2ch” is flashing

The DVD-Audio disc you are playing contains multiple-channel sig-

nals that cannot be down-mixed (“NO DOWN-MIX” also appears).
