Picture
Picture distorted.
The picture shown on the
television is not normal.

The picture on the television
disappears or stripes appear on
the screen.
Listening to the radio
oSome distortion is normal during SEARCH.
oEnsure that the unit is connected directly to the television, and is not connected through a video
cassette recorder.
oGo to the Video menu in the ACTION screen, and change "TV Aspect" to suit your television. You
may also need to change the screen mode on the television itself. _)
If your television cannot change the aspect when input is progressive
Press [PROGRESSIVE OUT] so the indicator goes out. Output will now be interlace.
oCheck the settings in the On-Screen Menu Icons' video menu. G)
oThe location and orientation of the antenna are incorrect. If you are using an indoor antenna,
change to an outdoor antenna, t_)
oThe television antenna wire is too close to the unit. Separate the antenna wire of the television
from the unit.
A beat sound is heard.
Unit displays
oTurn the television off or separate it from the unit.
This unit's display is off.
"DVD HDD"
E3E3stands for a number.
oPress [FL DISPLAY] to turn the display on. i_)
oThe disc is dirty. Wipe it with a soft cloth. O
oTrouble is likely to have occurred. The number following "H" depends on the status of the unit.
Reset procedure:
Press [_] to switch the unit to the standby mode and then back to ON. Alternatively, press [_] to
switch the unit to the standby mode, disconnect the AC power supply cord, and then reconnect it.
olf the service numbers fail to clear, note the service number and contact a qualified service person.
Television displays
No on-screen display, oGo to Display in the ACTION menus, and select "On" for "On-Screen Messages". 1_)

different language.
oGo to Disc in the ACTION menus, and select the preferred language for "Menus". l_)
To clean this unit, wipe with a soft, damp cloth.
oNever use alcohol, paint thinner or benzine to clean this unit.
oBefore using chemically treated cloth, read the instructions that
came with the cloth carefully.
